Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Music Team Leader, for part time employment, approximately 15 hours per week, to lead our music team. This is a unique opportunity for a person strong in voice and personality to lead with a blend of traditional hymns; praise music; contemporary music as well as gospel, etc… with a wide range of musical instruments. Our eclectic style is both inclusive and inviting and promotes and encourages musical creativity. The Music Team Leader will report directly to the Priest/Parish Rector. Qualifications required, but are not limited to:
The Music Team Leader must possess strong leadership and organizational skills as well as faith based musical experience within a church setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship building skills are critical.
Candidates must also have the ability and desire to work with and encourage children, young adults and mature adults to develop their musical skills in the context of worship.
The Music Team Leader must have strong keyboard or guitar skills as well as strong vocal skills with knowledge of both traditional and modern worship music.
We are seeking a person with a strong desire to create, someone with imagination and a passion for faith based leadership within our worship community.
We would prefer a person with experience in planning and leading worship programs.
Music-related Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Since the Music Team Leader will be working with the Parish youth periodically and working within a church budget, they will need to pass a background check.
The Music Team Leader will also be required to complete the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina’s Sexual Ethics Training and Anti-Racism Trainingwithin three months of hire.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leading the music team on Sunday mornings as well as attend and conduct weekly music team rehearsals and be available for all major services of the church year, including Christmas and Easter. The Music Team Leader will also work with youth programs periodically.
Other responsibilities include building and developing a strong community among the music team and encourage active participation by the congregation, working with different talent levels.
The Music Team Leader will attend monthly Worship Committee meetings and work closely with the clergy and parish committee in the planning of music for Sunday worship service, Holy Days, and special services.
We are seeking a partner that participates in the fellowship activities of the parish and possess a strong sense of community. This includes relational presence within the congregation following Sunday morning worship service, seeking constructive input and feedback of the music program.
The Music Team Leader will also be responsible for maintaining the music program equipment, within the budget given, as well as working with the Media team on their technology.

Holy Cross has approximately 100 parishioners, we are an outreach focused church supporting and working with many community non-profits. Our motto is “All are Welcome”.
