St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, Durham, NC, is hiring a Ryals Minister for Children and Youth. The position is named in memory of Hildegard Ryals, a longtime member of St. Philip’s whose generous bequest allows us to fund this position.

The Ryals Minister is responsible for all children’s and youth programs and provides support for ministries that engage and strengthen families of all types.

They will be tasked with a broad range of programs, activities, and ministries, including support for members, ministry leaders, and curriculums.

The Ryals Minister for Children and Youth will have a demonstrated passion for living as a disciple of Jesus Christ, a commitment to care for God’s people and God’s world, and for supporting others in their Christian journeys. They will be familiar with the Episcopal Church and at home in an inclusive and welcoming community. We seek someone with strong administrative skills including gifts for organization, communications, and volunteer support. Prior experience in children’s and youth ministry is preferred. Above all, we seek a warm, welcoming, and encouraging presence, to nurture and strengthen relationships with people of all ages as part of our call to worship, love, and action.

The position is 32 hours per week, including Sunday mornings and some evenings. The Ryals Minister reports to the Associate Rector, under the ultimate authority of the Rector. The compensation range is $32,000-$35,000, depending on experience, plus healthcare, pension, and other benefits as appropriate.
