Position Title: Priest & Director, Liturgy
Group: Mission & Ministry
Department: Liturgy
Reports To: Vicar (with dotted line to Rector)
Supervises: Head Sacristan, Program Associate
The Priest & Director of Liturgy oversees all Trinity Church liturgical activities, provides direction and guidance on protocols, procedures, and Trinity’s culture to all involved in worship, and assists with liturgical planning and development.

Liturgy Planning and Oversight
1. Oversees preparation and executive, coordinate work with staff, volunteers, and Trinity partners, and serve as site manager for all worship services at Trinity Church.
2. Serves as principal project manager for all Trinity Church liturgical events, coordinating with staff or volunteer project leaders to ensure integration of appropriate liturgical elements.
3. Participates in all parish liturgical planning and program development and serve as protocol advisor to Acolytes, parish volunteers, parishioners, and staff.
4. Coordinates with Director of Music, Organist, Head Sacristan, and others involved in conducting the worship services at Trinity Church.
5. Prepares customaries for celebration of Holy Days, Triduum rituals, and other celebrations throughout the year in collaboration with Rector and Vicar.
6. Maintains current knowledge of liturgical norms and documents through ongoing study and research.
7. Executes and supports policies established for the liturgy and ritual at Trinity. Abides by liturgical standards established by the church.
8. Serves as resource person for liturgical art and environment to the Sacristan in planning and providing a well-coordinated liturgical atmosphere.
9. Prepares General Intercessions at Eucharistic Liturgy celebrations, occasionally.
10. Maintains a liturgy library which provides current resources.
11. Oversees the maintenance of community and affiliate necrology for the liturgy office and “Book of Life” in the computer system.
Coordination with Congregation
12. Trains and supervises parish volunteers in liturgy for regular and special services, visitor services, pastoral care, and tours. Coordinates with clergy and lay volunteers to provide pastoral care for Trinity visitors and pilgrims.
13. Coordinates the scheduling of persons involved in liturgical ministries: presiders, lectors, petitioners, gift bearers, ministers, acolytes, liturgical assistants, crucifiers, and musicians, etc.
14. Recruits persons for various liturgical roles. Provides motivation and guidance for new and current ministers.
15. Maintains and updates job descriptions for all ministries.
Supervision and Management
16. Supervises the Sacristan and Program Associate.
17. Prepares and monitors annual budget.
18. Adhere to confidentiality rules and all other Trinity Wall Street policies, procedures and rules.
19. Perform all duties in a manner that promote Trinity’s mission and core values.
20. Assume other related responsibilities and special projects as required.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
• Ability to plan, organize, delegate and direct as a leader in preparing for liturgical functions
• Ability to communicate and work well with others
• Ability to manage diverse aspects of multiple projects concurrently
• Amiable and flexible in building and managing relationships
• Current knowledge of liturgy, theology and scripture
• A thorough understanding of liturgy, theology and scripture
• Parish historian and protocol expert
• Excellent grasp of Trinity Wall Street history and protocol.
• Organized and strong attention to detail, captures items that might fall through the cracks
• Commitment to the mission and religious grounding of the church.
• Sense of humor and compassion
• Excellent written, oral, and inter-personal communication skills
• Self-starter and team-player with strong administrative skills
• Adaptable to variety of job requirements – from program design work to routine details
• Must be flexible to meet the schedule demands of the position, which requires weekend, holiday and community event attendance during weekends and evenings

Required and Preferred Education, Experience, and Credentials:
• Experience recruiting and managing volunteers
• An ordained episcopal priest (with a minimum of five years of priesthood)
• Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and monitor a six-figure budget
• Experience in spirituality-centered work around liturgy and sacramental realities (such as labyrinth, stations of the cross, healing services, special church calendar observances, contemplative prayer)
