Chief Operating Officer will report directly to the Dean/President and will be responsible for strategic planning, oversight of the financial, administrative and operational staff of the seminary.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop a plan to implement the strategic initiatives identified by the Board of Trustees. Strategic plan should include financial analysis, critical dates, required resources and project plan.
2. Direct implementation of strategic plan.
3. Oversee all financial accounting, reporting and budgeting functions, including cash flow forecasting.
4. Oversee all operational and administrative functions of the school including finance, buildings and grounds, human resource, information systems.
5. Provide Board of Trustees with financial analysis and recommendation regarding fees, tuition, enrollment targets and housing rates.
6. Develop and recommend asset utilization, revenue and expense strategies throughout the organization in terms of both near-term goals and long-term financial security.
7. Manage insurance and banking relationships.
8. Develop and maintain short and long range financial forecasting and planning.
9. In consultation with the Dean/President and the Management and Finance Committee, negotiate and administer the following contracted professional services: Legal services, audit services with outside auditors (in coordination with the Audit Committee), IT, other professional and expert services as required.
10. Participate in meetings of the Board of Trustees Investment Sub-Committee, Management and Finance Committee, and other committees as needed or required.
11. Provide financial impact analysis for all resolution considered by committees and the board of Trustees.
12. Oversee special projects as assigned by the President and Dean.
13. At the direction of the President, coordinate with any department heads and deans (including the director of advancement and academic dean) on projects to be determined as necessary.
14. Be a senior spokesperson for CDSP.

Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or equivalent
MBA degree or equivalent (preferred)
CPA a plus

Experience:
Ten plus years of financial and executive management experience.
Competence in supervision and leadership of staff in a collaborative environment.
Familiarity with the nonprofit/education sector a plus.
Proven resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
Experience in supervision of financial accounting, budgeting & auditing functions, preferably of a not-for-profit organization.
Excellent people skills; experience in collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, multi-function diverse and dynamic setting, i.e. the Graduate Theological Union consortium, the Episcopal Church, other complex groups, etc.
Knowledge of, or commitment to learn, Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accrediting standards.
Commitment to theological education.
