POSITION TITLE: Chaplain

POSITION STATUS:
• Full Time
• Exempt status

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Priest ordained in the Episcopal Church
• Master’s degree in Divinity
• Experience with student populations in all grade levels PK-12

REPORTS TO:
Head of School for day-to-day planning, implementation, and goal setting
• Has cooperative role with Christ Church clergy
• Works with all faculty and staff
• Connects with other churches in the community-at-large

PERFORMANCE ABILITIES:
• Work Habits
o Work with all major departments and divisions to achieve strategic initiatives
o Maintain professionalism in dress, speech and manner
o Communicate and deal effectively with all members of the school community and community at large
o Perform in a manner that reflects positively on the school
o Perform all duties as requested by the Head of School
o Maintain a pattern of prompt and regular attendance
• Essential Functions
o Serve as an active member of the faculty in each division and standard bearer for Episcopal Identity in the school to the school community.
o Plan and implement programs of worship, including chapel services for each division, Eucharist services for All Saints’ Day and St. Stephen’s Day Chapel, and special services such as the Blessing of the Animals and Baccalaureate, fostering student involvement via the Chapel Council and the Chapel Leader programs
o Share the school’s identity as an Episcopal school to all prospective candidates for employment and for trustee positions at the school. Oversee the school’s Safeguarding God’s Children program with all employees and volunteers
o Provide spiritual direction and counsel to the Head of School
o Foster an environment of Christian hospitality, while welcoming those from all religions
o Teach religion classes in the different divisions
o Provide pastoral care to the full breadth and diversity of school students, faculty, groups, and families, as needed
o Provide oversight to a program of Christian education for preschool through 12th grade inclusive of theology, biblical studies, world religions, and morals and ethics
o Support prayer times, bible study and retreat opportunities for faculty and students
o Foster and promote the school’s ongoing relationship with the Episcopal Church
o Provide leadership to the School’s community service programs in each division
o Foster a spirit of Christ’s love in the school community
o Attend the biannual NAES conference and promote NAES programs and resources to the school
o Assist in supervision of students, as assigned

o Participates successfully in computer training and/or maintain skills necessary to achieve proficiency of performance responsibilities
