A beautiful church in Wichita, Kansas is looking for a full-time rector. Wichita is the largest city in the state of Kansas; St. John’s was the first episcopal church in Wichita.

In the search for our next Rector, we seek a leader who will fully engage with us, with our community and with the greater Diocese of Kansas in achieving our goal of becoming a lively partnership of clergy and lay leaders, led to more faithfully love and serve Christ, with one heart and one mind, united in spirit and purpose.
To support our goal of growing and expanding our Spanish and bilingual worship services, we seek a rector who is culturally competent and bilingual in English and Spanish. Additionally, we seek a rector who will help lead us to become a learning organization, as we strive to open and maintain effective communication channels and work together to resolve conflicts when they arise.
Based on the CAT, the congregation identified the following highest priority attributes for our next rector, in rank order:
1. Preaching – Defined as the capacity to inspire and connect people to God’s word
2. Strategic leadership – Defined as the capacity to cast a vision and lead the church toward realization of the vision
3. Pastoral care – Defined as the capacity to engage people empathetically and care for persons in times of need
4. Change management – Defined as the capacity to lead a church through a significant and necessary period of change
5. Teaching/Training – Defined as the capacity to deepen understanding, form character, and equip members with new skills
