This person will work closely with lay and clergy leadership, providing support and facilitating the spiritual and organizational health of the parishes and missions of the Diocese of East Carolina. This work is undertaken in order to strengthen the ministry capacities of our diocese and its component parishes and communities as we seek new and sustainable futures. The Coordinator for Spanish Language Ministry will collaborate with the Bishop and other diocesan leaders to help the Diocese of East Carolina thrive by strengthening connections and resources among Spanish language congregations and communities.

The Coordinator’s work will demonstrate peer coaching and servant leadership, empowering existing leadership in congregations rather than acting as an expert. Coordinating the development of a Spanish Language Ministry Team for the Diocese of East Carolina, to provide a community of support and consultation for existing and emerging Spanish Language worshipping communities in the Diocese of East Carolina.
Facilitating communication which connects and enables understanding of the ministry and mission of the entire diocese and The Episcopal Church. Some regular participation at Diocesan Staff Meetings is a component of the position.
Identification and development of mission leadership, both for the development of the worshipping community and the service of the local community; such work includes the ministry of diminishing human suffering in all its forms.
Primary responsibility for the priestly support of one Spanish language congregation.
Some visiting of congregations and ministries throughout the diocese. Such visits might include Sunday liturgies, Christian formation, vestry meetings, retreats, and special events. Regular travel will be a frequent dimension of this work.
