Purpose: To coordinate and execute a ministry to serve the children and youth of St. Stephen’s and their families, as they seek to know and share the love of Christ in this parish and community (Note: For this position, children: Preschool-5th grade; youth: 6th-12th)

• A Christian (Episcopalian preferred) who is committed to and excited about working with and learning from children and youth (prior experience in this area preferred)
• Takes initiative and demonstrates creativity for new ideas and programs
• Ability and desire to collaborate with others in shaping this ministry
• 4-year college degree or in the process of obtaining one

• Christian Education – plan and lead Sunday School each week for youth
• Offer and encourage service and outreach opportunities in the community
• Offer children and youth/family activities outside Sunday morning context throughout the year
• Organize youth fundraising efforts
• Serve as staff support for the acolyte ministry
• Encourage attendance at diocesan youth events
• Recruit and coordinate additional leaders/volunteer base for children and youth activities
• Foster and sustain a safe environment where children and youth are encouraged to explore their faith and to build lasting relationships with one another
• Maintain consistent communication with families about all events (including weekly announcements, email updates, and contributions to the monthly newsletter)
• Maintain proper documentation for all children and youth involved in the program (i.e., emergency medical forms, media/picture releases, permission slips for any travel)
• Attend Safeguarding God’s Children training (if not already completed) and ensure compliance with those guidelines at children and youth events

Reports to: Director of Christian Education and Programming

Time: Part-time, approximately 10-12 hours per week (.25 FTE)
• Sundays required; other hours flexible

Compensation: $9,600 annually

Target start date is July 1, 2017, though this can be negotiated.
