|St. John’s Episcopal Church in Barrington, RI is seeking qualified candidates for a 15-18 hours per week Director of Music Programs. The person called to this position will serve as organist, director of the adult choir, manager of lay music leadership, and planner and coordinator of new musical endeavors. He or she will join a dedicated team including the rector, deacon, office staff, and choir that currently stands at around twelve adults, but with potential for growth. St. John’s highly values the place of music in the liturgy, but desires a music programs director who is passionate, self-motivated, and envisions a way to create, manage, and grow several musical programs at the same time.
The position requires dedication, passion, and excellence as a choral conductor and organist, preferably through experience in the Episcopal liturgy and music tradition. However, the right candidate will also be willing to oversee a unique Ancient-Modern concept of music for our Sunday evening 5:30 p.m.service. This will include coordinating lay musicians who will lead the music for that service, as well as helping recruit volunteer musicians who are willing to play on Sunday evenings. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience, up to a maximum total compensation of $35,000.
