|Imago Dei Middle School is a private, tuition-free school, grades 5 – 8, serving children of low-income families. The mission of Imago Dei is to break cycles of poverty through education by empowering our children to live into their full potential.
Imago Dei Middle School represents the belief that all people are made in the image of God, who has many names and ways of being experienced. Because each person is a treasured expression of God, we believe that loving and serving others is an integral part of our lives and service to God.
In religion classes, we explore, question and discover what is of ultimate importance to people of faith throughout history and the world. Students are encouraged to share their faith traditions in class discussions and through project work. Our religion classes are one of the places where we examine more deeply and live into our core values of Responsibility, Respect, Honesty, and Excellence.
Our students bring extraordinary wisdom and rich spiritual understandings to our worship life, and we learn from each other in the questions, doubts, and insights. Worship takes two forms in our community: daily worship (morning and evening prayer) and a weekly Eucharist.
We incorporate the sacred texts and prayers of diverse faith traditions in both of these worship opportunities, and we welcome and encourage intercessory prayer, petitions, and thanksgivings from our students during these services.
• Position requires active mobility throughout the day; classrooms are located on the third floor of an urban school building; students are escorted up and down stairwells, requiring faculty to move with them when possible.
Compensation is based on years of experience and level of education, and includes health, dental, pension and others benefits.
Imago Dei is accredited by the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools, and is an active member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES), the Urban School Alliance of NAES, National Association of Independent Schools, the Nativity Miguel Coalition and the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education.
