The Episcopal Diocese of California seeks an organized, creative, and energetic Working Group Head for Faith Formation.

The Working Group Head for Faith Formation will be supervised by the Bishop of California and will collaborate with other working group heads and members of staff. The Working Group Head for Faith Formation is at the nexus of a variety of networks, committees, task forces, and commissions focused on comprehensive and holistic formation at all types of lay and ordained participation. This position requires the ability to work closely with others, frequently on tight time schedules.

Primary responsibilities:
 Organize and plan periodic training events across the diocese.
 Support local discernment committees for lay and ordained vocation. Collaborate
with the Vocations Officer to form Christians for all types of ministry.
 Consult with congregations on youth and young adult formation and staffing.
 Serve as liaison to campus chaplaincies and ministries.
 Collaborate with the Bishop, Canon to the Ordinary, and other diocesan leaders on
curriculum development for lay and ordained ministries.
 Attend monthly Executive Council meetings and other committee, task force, and
commission meetings as required.
 Collaborate with camps and conference centers on compliance, governance, and
 Coordinate Equipping the Beloved Community and other locally organized faith
formation events.
 Supervise the Associate for Discipleship Ministries.
Essential Skills and qualifications
 Familiarity with the structure and functioning of The Episcopal Church and the Diocese of California and willingness to live within the Baptismal Covenant of the Episcopal Church.
 Familiarity with Congregational Development practices.
 Collegial working style with and sensitivity to internal and external clients as well as
the general public.
 Excellent organizational skills including the ability to set priorities with measurable
goals, communicate results in a timely manner, and work on multiple projects
 Demonstrated capabilities in curriculum development, education, and volunteer
 Evening and weekend work is required; ability and willingness to be flexible about
working schedule and hours.
 Knowledge of a second language is a plus.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications, experience and diocesan compensation standards.
