|Grace Church, Weslaco, Texas is receiving names in the search for their next full-time rector.
Grace Church is a diverse, inclusive congregation in the Rio Grande Valley between Harlingen and McAllen, Texas. This multicultural, intergenerational congregation is very active, although attendance fluctuates seasonally due to an influx of Winter Texans. The church has the benefit of strong lay leadership and lots of activity, including Kairos, DoK, and multiple recovery groups, and is healthy financially.
Although the previous rector spoke English exclusively, the vestry is hopeful that the next rector will speak at least some Spanish. Being bicultural, however, is more important than being bilingual. They are interested in developing more family programs and developing leadership among the young adults and older teenagers in the church.
Interested candidates should contact the Diocesan Transition Minister, the Rev. Canon Joann Saylors, at email@example.com. Although there is much media hype about the safety of the border, Weslaco is as safe or safer than most other towns its size. And it’s within an hour or so of South Padre Island, with great fishing and hunting in the area.
