|The Church Divinity School of the Pacific, a seminary of the Episcopal Church, is seeking a Dean of Academic Affairs who will also have a half-time faculty appointment in a field that complements the existing strengths in the CDSP faculty. Our current needs are particularly in the areas of New Testament studies, Homiletics, Church History, and Pastoral Theology. We seek to appoint a person who will further the institution’s commitment to forming leaders of multicultural ministries in a diverse and changing church and world. The Dean of Academic Affairs will implement the new and distinctive MDiv curriculum revision just completed, build upon recent faculty development, and continue to build on the success of the hybrid/low residence program. In addition, the Dean will have the opportunity, in consultation with the President, Board of Trustees, and Faculty, to develop new initiatives reflecting the programmatic mission of CDSP.
This person will have some experience or familiarity with the broad spectrum of tasks related to leading faculty and implementing curriculum, and carrying out (with support) the administrative functions of a seminary program. The Academic Dean will be able to represent CDSP in the broader Episcopal Church, support faculty and staff in engaging with church polity and practices, and represent the Episcopal perspective in the larger arena of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley.
