Virginia Theological Seminary invites applications for the position of Associate Dean of Students. The Associate Dean of Students has oversight over the common life of all students at VTS in all our educational programs. The ideal candidate will be able to provide opportunities for formal and informal reflection on ministry and the dynamics of living in a Christian community while supporting the academic programs of the seminary as well as our student’s vocational discernment. S/he supervises those heading up recruitment, admissions, financial aid and residence life in the Department of Academic Administration and Student Life (AASL). S/he is supervised by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, with whom s/he works closely, serves on the Senior Staff, and participates as a member of the Faculty. Depending on credentials, experience, and curricular demands, the Associate Dean of Students may be invited to teach up to two courses per academic year.

• Preference will be given to candidates who are ordained in the Episcopal Church, with particular attention given to applicants who hold an advanced graduate degree and at least three year of related experience and three years of working in a parish.
• Candidates should be committed and engaged in the wider life of the Episcopal Church.
• Prior work in theological education is preferred.
