|St. John’s is an inter-generational faith community of 329 members with an average Sunday attendance of 116. Parishioners bring a broad range of skills and professional experience that enhance the work of our Vestry and committees. The parish dates back to 1759 and continues a long history of hospitality ministries. We are part of a strong and progressive diocese that is deeply invested in discerning God’s mission for the church within the community and beyond. Situated in a small town less than ten miles from New Haven, St. John’s draws upon the deep resources and cultural amenities of several area colleges and universities, businesses, and not-for-profit organizations.
St. John’s is an extended family filled with caring, warmth, moral support and a sense of community. Beyond our contact point with God and Gospel, St. John’s is a channel for outreach and mission. While we find identity and comfort in our parish traditions, we also know we need to find new ways of “being church.” We pray God will send us a Rector who will help us live into our vision including further expanding ministry beyond the church walls, increasing partnerships with other churches and community organizations, stepping-up our lay leadership responsibilities, and strengthening our financial stability. We acknowledge these growth opportunities as the focus of our ministry together under the leadership of our new Rector. This ¾-time position has potential to return to its historically full-time level.
