St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas, announces an opening for the position of part-time Organist/Choirmaster. The St. Luke’s organ, a 28 rank, 2 manual Nichols and Simpson instrument built in 2000, is used for all services. The successful candidate: will play two Rite II Sunday Services, rehearse and train the adult choir for one Sunday service and special services, and assist in the direction of the adult handbell choir. Further, he/she will be expected to engage in active recruitment of new choir members. The Organist/Choirmaster serves as the ex officio facilitator of the Festival of the Senses Board of Directors, the annual parish concert series which offers 7-9 concert and visual arts events annually. Service playing skills, knowledge of the liturgy in the Anglican tradition and of standard Episcopal hymnody, vocal coaching skills, and conducting skills are required. Business marketing/Advertisement skills, strong leadership ability and interpersonal skills, as well as desk-top publishing and word processing skills are preferred. Minimum Educational requirement: B.A. in Music or related field. Application deadline is September 30.
